About

At Panga Films, we believe in storytelling that is intimate, immersive, and impactful. We are a two-person filmmaking team — producer/director Tarryn Buttery and cinematographer/director Bruce Buttery— with over two decades of experience in documentary, branded content, social media storytelling, and long-form television. Together, we’ve produced more than 150 cinematic stories for CNN, including Inside Africa, African Voices, Marketplace Africa, Africa Avant-Garde, Call to Earth, and CNN Special Features.

Our work also extends to global campaigns and character-driven films for the UFC, including UFC Countdown, Dana White’s Contender Series, and UFC Embedded, capturing the rise of African fighters like Dricus du Plessis, Themba Gorimbo, and Ateba Gautier.

Though based in South Africa, we’ve filmed across the continent — including Mozambique, Angola, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Cameroon, and São Tomé — and in Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, Europe, and the USA.Whether embedded in remote communities or working with larger commercial crews, we bring a calm, agile, and field-proven approach to every production. Our work blends journalistic integrity with cinematic craft — always shaped by authenticity, empathy, and a deep respect for the people and places we film.

“We want the next part of our lives as filmmakers to be about telling stories that create powerful change and advocate environmentally sustainable and socially responsible content.”
– Tarryn and Bruce Buttery

We work with broadcasters, NGOs, and brands that care about impact — offering full production from concept to delivery, including drone, field audio, post-production, and high-speed file delivery via Starlink or fiber from anywhere on the continent. We are more than just filmmakers — we’re listeners, collaborators, and creative partners in stories that matter.
